While not located within Cheatham County, Montgomery Bell State Park in Burns, Tennessee is just 20–25 minutes from Ashland City and is one of the premier cycling and outdoor recreation destinations in all of Middle Tennessee. The park features approximately 23 miles of dirt mountain bike trails winding through thick-forested hills, with difficulty levels ranging from easy red trails to expert-only green and yellow routes — managed in partnership with SORBA Mid-TN. The park also offers extensive hiking trails, fishing, camping, cabins, a lodge, and a golf course, making it a full-day or multi-day destination for outdoor enthusiasts of all types. A $3 day-use fee applies at the mountain bike trailhead; an annual pass is available for frequent visitors.
