Cheatham Recreation Area

Cheatham Lake, created by the Cheatham Lock and Dam completed in 1952, stretches 67 miles along the Cumberland River and draws visitors year-round for its wide range of outdoor recreation. The Right Bank Recreation Area, located about 11 miles northwest of Ashland City, features a sandy beach, group picnic shelters, a boat ramp, swimming access, volleyball courts, a softball field, and playgrounds — all in a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. Anglers will find excellent fishing throughout the reservoir for largemouth bass, sauger, walleye, and catfish, while boaters enjoy easy lake access via 16 public boat ramps across the area. The adjacent Cheatham Lake Wildlife Management Area, managed by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, provides over 2,700 acres of public hunting land with deer, turkey, waterfowl, and small game.
