Before You Go

Founded in 1994 through the efforts of local residents including Thelma Heflin, the organization has spent more than 30 years collecting, preserving, and celebrating the stories, records, and artifacts that shaped the community. Located beneath the Cheatham County Public Library, the Cheatham County Museum features photographs, letters, diaries, artifacts, and exhibits that bring local history to life—some dating back before the county’s founding in 1856. The association also assists with genealogy research, historical markers, educational programs, and special events that connect visitors and residents to the county’s past. Whether you're exploring your family roots or discovering the stories that built Cheatham County, the CCHGA offers a fascinating journey through local history.
